A proposition for a new order in architecture, with rules for drawing the several parts. Shewing The Intercoluminations, Arcades, Windows and Niches of this Composition; and how it is adapted to assemble with the Grecian and Roman Orders: Also the Manner of placing it over the Doric, Ionic, Corinthian and Composite Orders. Shewing, likewise, how Columns of this Composition may be doubled for the Support of the Angle of a Building (as Palladio has doubled those of the Doric Order on the projecting Angle in the Front of the Palace of Count Valerio at Vicenza, where the Shafts intersect each other), and have a substantial and regular Effect. With two original designs (which have been executed) of this composition; one of them is a Portico, in which the Columns and Pilasters are Two Feet One Inch Diameter, and Thirty-Six Feet Eight Inches high, ornamented agreeably to those Rules. The other Design is a Bow Window, ornamented with Pilasters. To which are added, two plates of the Gothic screen or Gallery lately executed in St. George's Chapel at Windsor.
